Logs Day Two

Jason and Tim are stacking logs. The pace is not as fast as it was when they were framing but each log is checked for level and the wall is checked for plumb at each corner. I am continually amazed at how precise their work is. Very methodical and organized.

Logs Going Up

1st course of logs. Pictures courtesy of my Neighbor David. Thanks again David. As you might have noticed, the Kelly boys are back at it. They seem to always be in the right place at the right time. Jason and Tim were packing the logs upstairs one at a time until Bernie showed up. He made quick work of their problems.

Ready for Logs

Once the subfloor was complete the only thing remaining to do before the logs could go on was to set the log sill plates. The outside board is a redwood 2x6 and the inside board is a 2x4 pine or fir. This makes the base to lag the first course of logs too.

Subfloor Gets Installed

Here's a birds eye view of a subfloor install thanks to David. The flooring is 4x8 sheets of 3/4" tounge & groove. It is a very important piece of the silent floor system that we are using on this home. Each sheet is glued and stapled. It make a very nice and quiet floor.

Floor Joists

I can't take pictures fast enough to keep up with Jason and Tim so David volunteered his digital expertise and started taking pictures while I was away. Once again, my neighbor saves the day.
