Rainbows Accross the Valley

The rain stayed accross the valley for most of the evening giving us a great show. After watching multiple rainbows Kelly decided to get the camera and capture the views from the great room.

Inspected & Approved

Rough in inspection is done. Kelly must have batted her eyes and flirted just enough cause we passed with flying colors.

Making Sense of the Wiring Mess

As with all things electrical, the way things start are not the way they end up if you want them to be functional. I had pulled all of the home runs to the breaker box but in order to be ready for the rough in inspection I had to pull all of them into the box and land the neutral and ground wires. To do this in an orderly fashion and have the finished product look halfway decent takes a considerable amount of time. I spend the better part of 5 hours landing wires and re-organizing the circuits. It's still not as nice as I would like it to be but it will get me through inspection.

Heating bill

Propane cost's $2.30 a gallon now...!!!...??? Good thing I have 20 acres of fuel.

I did a little cleaning up around the place on Sunday. 4 tree's, half-pint of bar oil, half gallon saw gas, and a new axe handle later we have close to 1.5 cords of split dry pine. We now have almost 4 cords of wood on hand. I'd like to have more like 10 or twelve by this coming winter.

Trenching--Well Power

Had a bit of good luck....Troy from Columbus Propane had a few minutes to spare so he ran a trench so that I could get the well power under the driveway and out of the way. Turned out to be a very nice day and the view did not disappoint.

Kitchen Progress

Here's the before and after of my one day Kitchen Marathon. I was very suprised at how much I could accomplish in a few hours. Started framing the fir-out wall and the pantry at 10AM. Finished wiring, sheetrocking, cabinet-countertop install, and clean up at around 6pm.

May Update--We're In

Been too long since I updated the blog. Been very busy and very much away from the computer. Don't know where to start with the progress so I'll just ramble on and post some pictures. As the title says we are actually moved in to the house. The basement anyway. To do that we had to get the furnace functional, and that required more electrical work and I had to have the large propane tank installed. Got that done just in time to wish for Air Conditioning....but that's not far from being done also.

My father and I completed siding the front of the garage and entry side of the nose of the house. It looks really good.

The garage is now partitioned from the living area in the house so we don't have to worry about the kids getting into the tools now.

There's probably more too...next update will be on the kitchen.
